We are now accepting bookings for golf and driving range, as well as equipment hire in line with the Golf Australia Return to Play Guidelines.

The venue is working to ensure the health and safety of all patrons and staff is maintained. We want to address the growing fears around the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and share with you the information we have at the current time.

We are working to ensure our centre remains a safe place to visit and work. The health and safety of our community is our main priority, we always uphold a high standard of hygiene within the centre, however are taking extra precautions during this time.

We hope you will do what you can to take care of yourself and those around you, we also encourage you to use and support our community facility with confidence while it is safe to do so.

Remember if you are feeling unwell or showing symptoms of the flu, cough or cold to please remain away from the centre until you are feeling 100%.

❗ IMPORTANT MEMBER UPDATE ❗   

As per State Government directive, we will be re-opening on Thursday 18-February

Masks will be required indoors and outdoors where people cannot physically distance. Your face mask must be worn when visiting our centre except when in the pool, exercising or drinking. 

We will re-open with density limits in accordance with Government directives. Please check our timetable and refer to signage in our Centre for details.

❗ IMPORTANT MEMBER UPDATE ❗   

As per State Government directive, we will be closed effective from 11.59pm tonight (Friday 12 February) until 11.59pm Wednesday 17 February. 

This period is subject to change in line with revisions from the state government. 

Due to this temporary closure, please read below what this will mean for you, our members and users.   

By staying at home and limiting contact with other people, we can each help to protect the elderly, the at-risk, and healthcare workers and slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).  

Membership   

  • Your membership will be placed on a free suspension for the 5-day closure period.  

  • All future bookings you have made (for the closure period) will be cancelled.  

  • We will contact you once the advised temporary closure period concludes, or as directed by the Government.   

  • Watch for an email tomorrow with how to access our Home Fitness Network for FREE during the closure.  

What does a 5-Day lockdown mean? 

You are required to stay home and within 5km of your home, with four exceptions: 

  • Shopping for essentials like groceries, medicine and necessary supplies 

  • Medical or healthcare needs, including compassionate requirements and looking after the vulnerable 

  • Exercise within their neighbourhood, with your household members, your intimate partner, or one other person who is not from your household or your partner for up to two hours per day 

  • Work, where you cannot work from home or remotely 

I booked in for a session. Will these run as planned? 
Unfortunately, not. Any booked sessions will be cancelled because we must close our doors by close of business today – Friday 12 February 2021. We will keep you updated on re-opening so you can start to train with us again.

The State Government and health officials have imposed new border restrictions as a result of the growing coronavirus cluster in Sydney's Northern Beaches.  

Effective immediately (18.12.20) anyone travelling or travelled since Dec 11 from the NSW hotspot areas will need to be tested and self-isolate for two weeks. 

This includes visitors and residents returning home. 

For the health and safety of our guests and visitors we ask these restrictions to be followed. If you are  
feeling unwell or showing flu like symptoms to please get tested and not travel.

GOLF OPERATIONS

From Monday the 23rd of November

• Golf can be played in groups of four, regardless of whether they are from the same household or not
• Club competitions can be conducted. Non-contact scoring methods such as digital submission is highly recommended.
• Pro shops may operate, providing social distancing and maximum density requirements are observed
• Rental clubs, golf carts and pull buggies can be provided for hire, with all equipment cleaned before and after each use
• Players may share a cart
• Multi-tee and shotgun starts are permitted, however clubs/facilities must take into account the increased rate of gathering that occurs with these starting options and ensure that all gathering limits in all areas of the club can be adhered to. Currently that gathering limit is 50.
• Shared equipment must be cleaned after each use. As such, Golf Australia recommends that clubs/facilities continue to apply the temporary local rules contained within the play management guidelines, located at https://www.golf.org.au/club-guidance-managing-play-in-the-covid-19-environment .
• Practice facilities, including driving ranges, may operate providing social distancing can occur, and a distance of 1.5 metres is maintained at all times
• MyGolf, Get Into Golf and group coaching programs can be conducted for groups of up to 10, plus the coach. Please note that, at all times while not undertaking strenuous activity, the coach and pupils must wear a face mask.


FOOD & BEVERAGE OPERATIONS

From Monday the 23rd of November

Indoors:
• Venues less than 200sqm of floorspace subject to density quotient of 1 per 2sqm up to a total of 50 patrons. QR codes must be used for venues using the small indoor venue density quotient. No group limit.
• Venues 200sqm of floorspace or larger subject to density quotient of 1 per 4sqm up to 150 patrons. No group limit.
• All patrons must be seated and table service provided

Outdoors:
• Up to 300 patrons per venue outdoors, subject to density quotient of 1 per 2sqm.
• Total venue capacity cannot exceed 300 people including both indoor and outdoor spaces.
• All patrons must be seated and table service provided

 

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

General Gathering Limits

Individual gatherings of people must remain at less than 50. Clubs/facilities should take all necessary steps to ensure that gatherings both formal and informal remain under this limit.

COVIDSafe Plans

All businesses that are operating or have staff present must have a COVIDSafe plan in place. The template is provided by the Victorian Government and is available at https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/covidsafe-plan.

Travel Restrictions

As travel restrictions no longer apply, participants and customers may travel anywhere in Victoria to attend a golf club or facility. Clubs and facilities no longer need to check the location of a participants and customers primary residential address, however record keeping requirements continue to apply.

Record Keeping

Clubs and facilities must continue to adhere to the record keeping requirements. That is, the name and phone number must be recorded of all persons who attend the premises for more than 15 minutes. Clubs/facilities may adopt various strategies to ensure this is completed including mandatory bookings for the use of the course, practice facilities and the clubhouse.

Face Coverings

Based on advice provided by the Victorian DHHS, Golf Australia recommends the following:
• Face coverings must be worn when:
- Indoors, unless eating or drinking
- Outdoors when you cannot physically distance
• All persons must carry a mask with them if they are not wearing it.
Management of people who present who are unwell, experiencing any cold, flu or fever type symptoms
As per health guidelines Golf Australia continues to recommend to clubs/facilities to advise their members and guests if they are experiencing any cold, flu or fever type symptoms they must not visit the facility. Additionally, we recommend that these persons should seek to get tested for COVID-19 as soon as possible.
Requirements of non-sporting attendees such as parents and spectators
Spectators are now permitted at sporting events, subject to venue capacity. Golf clubs/facilities are limited to a maximum of 500 people on premise at any one time.

Change rooms / Toilets

Change room facilities and indoor toilets canbe used, with a maximum of20 people only, with a limit ofone person per four square metres.Golf Australia recommends that itemssuch as shoe cleaners, sun creams,hairbrushesand combs, hair geland hair dryers from locker roomsshould be removed.Where possible, leavedoors ajarso theneed to push doors open or turn door knobsis removed. Per above,it is important that clubs/facilities are comfortable in managing these restrictions.

  • You are required to wear a face mask every time you leave your house 😷  

    • All golfers must wear a face covering or face mask when playing golf, unless they are affected by breathing difficulties (e.g. Asthma), a serious skin condition on the face, a disability or a mental health condition.

Why can't I book in for 18 hole play?

We will only be providing 9 hole play until further notice.

  • No member is permitted to book 2 separate 9 hole tee times on the same day 

  • Any member found to be booking 2 separate tee times on the same day will have their second booking deleted and be notified of their breach of our plan to manage community access 

  • No 18 hole play is permitted for public players until further notice 

How do I comply with the terms and policies and conditions of the COVID Safety Plan at Geelong Golf Course?

We are confident that our best-practice precautions on course have kept our community as safe as possible since restrictions first commenced in the month of March, 2020. All distancing and hygiene policies enforced to date remain in force, with the following update to conditions from Thursday, 9th July until further notice. 

  • Golf will only be permitted in groups of four 

    • ​If you are found to be in breach of this rule by our course marshal, you will be removed from the golf course immediately 

  • Do not arrive at the facility earlier than 10mins prior to your designated tee time 

    • With all practice facilities closed, there is no longer any reason to arrive at our facility early 

      • Rules regarding loitering and socialising remain in force - you have three reasons to be here: Arriving, Playing Golf and Leaving

  • Hire equipment or borrowing of equipment 
    Clubs/facilities are required to thoroughly clean the carts before and after each use

    • You must not share equipment (i.e. clubs, tees, or balls) with playing partners 

    • In order to use a personal cart, a golf cart licence agreement must be submitted and approved by the Manager

  • Failure to maintain 100M social distancing on course

    • Our marshal will be patrolling and controlling this distancing requirement on course

    • Do not hit up on groups, don't group up, WAIT 

    • Tips & Tricks: The 2-ball on the green is the most important piece of the puzzle. Even if you have finished putting, please WAIT on the green until you have seen the group ahead leave the tee. By waiting, not only do you successfully maintain 100m with the group ahead, but you also stop the group behind from hitting their approach shot 

  • Failure to wear a mask at all times 

  • Players will be asked to leave the facility immediately if they are not wearing a face covering, unless they are affected by a relevant medical condition.
     
  • It is recommended that clubs/facilities seek a medical certificate or other proof of exemption for players who state they have a valid reason not to wear a face covering. 
    • For the avoidance of doubt, DHHS have published the following: 
      When an individual is doing any exercise or physical activity where they are out of breath or puffing (e.g. jogging or running, but not walking), you must have a face covering on you and wear it when you finish exercising. 
  • Help us to promote the overarching principles of Golf Australia 

    • Our expectation is that you assist us as best as possible in keeping the community safe

    • If you are found by Management or our course marshal to be behaving in conflict with one of Golf Australia's overarching principles, and behaving in a way that is unsafe, you will be warned about this behavior

  • Our Plan to manage the above items during the period of Stage 3 Restrictions
     
    • We are all grateful that golf remains a physical and mental health outlet for the community during this lockdown period. However, our course can only be deemed safe to open with a strict adherence to the 6 listed items above. Any breach of Golf Australia's recommendations will be tracked in a warning register by Management and, in the event of a failure to comply, course access will be suspended for the remainder of the lockdown period (no exceptions)

What are Golf Australia's overarching principles?

The following are the principles in which these guidelines have been developed on, and how clubs and facilities should act in this crisis.

  1. That the return to sport in these times is a privilege and not a right

  2. Participants need to minimise their time at the venue

  3. Participants need to minimise contact with other people at the venue, fellow participants, and staff alike

  4. Organisations have a responsibility to ensure that congregation of people are not permitted at your facility in alignment with the outdoor mass gathering ban of not more than 20 people in any one place

  5. We all have a responsibility to do everything possible to reduce the risk of transmission of the virus and to ensure that we act appropriately during this crisis.

General - What are we doing to minimise health risks at the course and facilities?

The course and facility will remain vigilant in implementing infection control procedures, including 100% COVID-19 Infection Control Training for our staff, daily cleaning in accordance with DHHS recommendations, the promotion of healthy hygiene habits and making hand sanitiser available for staff and patrons to use.

General - What information and advice will help our members and casual visitors?

For now, the best advice is to follow some simple steps to help slow the spread of the virus and to reduce the risk of infection. General - If I have or am undergoing a period of self-isolation, what happens to my membership?

If you are showing symptoms or have been recommended by a Health Professional to self isolate, you should be staying at home and minimising contact with others. Please contact the team to discuss your free suspensions options.

General - What if I or a group member has traveled recently?

We ask that members, guests, and the general public wishing to access our course adhere to the health and travel declaration and practice good personal hygiene. If they feel unwell, they should not come to the club and instead, seek immediate medical attention. Keeping the course safe is a collective effort from everyone.

Following today's COVID-19 announcements from the Victorian State Government, we are pleased to announce that we will be re-opening the course with appropriate distancing restrictions from Wednesday 13 May 2020.

Please note, while golf is back in groups of 4, we still need your help to keep each other safe. In line with the most recent Golf Australia update, all players must pre-book their round. Our booking sheets are now open from Wednesday morning.

You will not be permitted to play without a booking. You can book via the app or our website.

We are only accepting card or online payments. In the Clubhouse, step to the "X", pay & proceed to wait where instructed by our team.
4.png PRACTICE PUTTING GREEN
Maximum of 4 people on the practice putting green. Please wait in the designated overflow area if practice green is fully occupied.

Wait for the group ahead of you to commence their walk down the fairway.

Once finished, go straight home. You may purchase take away food or drink on your way out, but you must not congregate. Please return to your car as soon as possible.

 
Our plan to manage social distancing, congregation and customer demand
 
  • You will not be permitted to play golf without a reserved tee time
  • Do not arrive at the clubhouse more than 10 minutes prior to your tee time. If you arrive at the facility earlier, please wait at your car
  • Stand on the “X” and follow the directions of our team members at all times
  • The practice green is closed to the public and only the ‘waiting group’ will be permitted to practice (while waiting to tee off)
  • Maintain 1.5m social distancing at all times with your playing partner (unless you live in the same household)
  • Players are to leave the facility immediately after completing their round
  • Coffee can be purchased takeaway but are not to be consumed in the form of post-round debriefs
  • Our licensed premises will remain closed
  • No photos or presentations are permitted

Note: Management has carried out local risk assessments to inform the structuring of tee intervals, with a view to maximising course access and also complying with congregation limits in and around the clubhouse area. With strict processes enforced between the car park, clubhouse, practice green, and tee, we are endeavouring to create as much access as possible. Whilst access to the course won't feel as relaxed and easy-going as usual, we hope you understand that the safety of our customers is our highest priority.

  BEST PRACTICE PRECAUTIONS ON THE COURSE 
 

Flags & Holes

  • Either the removal of flag-sticks on course or,
  • Flag-sticks to remain in with a “do not touch the flag-pole” sticker, and a foam insert in the cup to raise the status of the ball once in the hole
Bunkers
  • Removal of all rakes
  • Players are requested to smooth bunkers using their feet or a club and are allowed to take preferred lies
Equipment
  • Golf carts will be limited to one person per cart and touchpoints sanitised by team members post-use
  • Refer to Management for local rules relating to use of sand buckets and course care initiatives
  • An option will be made available to purchase a personalised sand bucket to keep in your car
  • Removal of other unnecessary touchpoints, including but not limited to: ball washers, shoe cleaners and pins on the practice green

To our valued Members and Guests,

Following the industry recommendation issued by Golf Australia, we are closing the course from COB 28 March 2020.

"Based on the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services directive issued as part of the Victorian Government’s Stage 2 restrictions regarding COVID-19, all golf clubs and facilities should close as soon as practicable until further notice."

As soon as we are all-clear to reopen, you’ll be the first to know!

All memberships have been suspended effective/immediately. All paid-in-full memberships will have their expiry date extended by the duration of the closure. We will continue to keep you updated, as any government decisions are announced.

In an effort to ensure you, our valued members can continue to keep fit and active in the comfort of your own home, members will be able to access our exclusive ‘Home Fitness Network’ offering.

As the COVID-19 situation evolves at a rapid rate, we continue to closely monitor the situation. This morning Prime Minister Scott Morrison addressed Australia with updated Coronavirus (COVID-19) measures, to further protect Australians. These measures came into effect at 5pm (AEST) today.  

The key measure which relates to health, fitness and leisure facilities includes:  

‘Settings like gyms, indoor fitness centres and swimming pools are not required to close at this time providing they meet these requirements for social distancing and hand hygiene. Such venues should take actions to ensure regular high standards of environmental cleaning take place.’  

In line with this measure, the following measures must be practiced by all who visit our Centre, including our staff:  

  • Maintain a distance of 1.5 metres between patrons  
  • Keep up high hygiene practices, including using hand hygiene products and suitable waste receptacles need to be available, with frequent cleaning and waste disposal.

It’s important to remember that maintaining our physical and mental health is extremely important on an ongoing basis. 

Additionally, we’d like to remind you that the highest levels of cleanliness and hygiene are being maintained within our facilities. This includes:  

  • Updated signage: we’ve updated in-centre signage to include the latest information and hygiene practices as advised by the Australian Government

Our Course is open for business!

We have been closely monitoring the escalating coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in our community and across the country.

We would like to reassure all of our members that our facilities follow the strictest hygiene standards and are still safe to visit unless otherwise advised. However, we are aware of the potential for an infection within our facility and would like to update you on the precautionary measures that we have taken within our course.

We understand that some of these measures may be inconvenient, but they have been put in place to ensure that we are doing everything possible to proactively prevent an outbreak within our facility.

Please note that the measures listed below are being reviewed on a daily basis in conjunction with advice from the government and World Health Organisation.

Hygiene Action Plan

  • Signage in facilities displaying up-to-date health alerts, hygiene advice and other essential information
  • Please ensure that you wipe down all equipment 
  • Please use hand-wash facilities in the bathroom

Operations Changes

Operational changes that are being implemented and encouraged at the facility that will help reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 include:

  • Remove use of member cards in place of providing member number at point of sale purchases
  • Remove shared items such as complimentary cheese and crackers
  • Where possible, leave doors ajar removing the need to push doors open or turn door knobs
  • Additional hand sanitiser around facility
  • No hand shaking hands or dollar bets
  • Use of drink trays for rounds of drinks
  • Removal of items such as shoe cleaners, sun creams, hair brushes and combs, hair gel and hair dryers from locker rooms
  • Sanitising motorised carts, push buggy and sand bucket handles, air compressor handles, before and after use
  • Encouraging golfers to wear their putting glove when removing the flag stick and when raking bunkers
  • Removal of cash transactions. We encourage ‘Pay-Wave’ transactions where no contact is required
  • Remove small pins from practice putting greens
Health Action Plan
  • For anyone experiencing flu, cough and cold symptoms, we ask that you refrain from visiting the facility.
  • If you did visit the facility when you were unwell, we ask that you advise the facility manager by phone or email.
